As part of our education and economic empowerment project titled ‘Empowering Youths in Cameroon,’ GHSS organized a two-day workshop on April 16th and 17th, 2024, to develop a comprehensive mentorship program framework. The mentorship program seeks to ensure that mentors offer essential guidance to youth participants, encouraging active engagement and impactful involvement in the program. The workshop convened diverse stakeholders, including project coordinators, regional coordinators, experts, and representatives from various organizations.
The objectives were establishing a mentorship framework, collaborating with stakeholders on monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, and devising effective mentorship strategies for individual and group levels. The workshop, a resounding success, resulted in strategies for individual and group mentoring, risk identification, and mitigation measures. It delineated effective mentorship strategies, addressed key challenges, and provided a roadmap for successful one-on-one mentoring. The recommendations arising from the workshop, a testament to our collective efforts, will guide the implementation of the mentorship program, furthering the empowerment of Cameroonian youth. This education and economic empowerment project is currently being implemented in six key regions of Cameroon including; Far North, East, Littoral, North West, South West, and West.
