In its ongoing efforts to enhance access to family planning and Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) in conflict-afflicted areas of Cameroon, Global Health Systems Solutions (GHSS) has been supporting the Ministry of Public Health (MoH) to organize quarterly Universal Health Coverage Coordination meetings. Under the project titled “Subnational Support to Increase Family Planning and SRH Service Access in Conflict-Afflicted
Regions of Cameroon,” GHSS supports MoH to convene the routine meeting quarterly at the district level. The meetings were conducted in the Tiko, Santa, Limbe, and Bamenda 3, health districts on September 4, 2024; in Buea, Bangem, and Dschang health districts on September 5, 2024; and in the Bonassama health district on September 6, 2024. During the meetings, district health teams and key stakeholders focused on improving pre-enrollment and enrollment into the UHC scheme, which was established by the Ministry of Public Health and is supported by Global Health Systems Solutions.
Key Takeaways
In the meetings, attendees brainstormed creative approaches to boost pre-enrollment and enrollment in Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in line with Ministry of Public Health guidelines. The valuable insights gained will support GHSS and the Cameroon Public Health Ministry in stepping up efforts to ensure that more young people in these underserved areas can access essential healthcare services.
Collaboration in Action
GHSS and district health teams, in collaboration with other stakeholders, worked together to exchange ideas and develop action plans to drive change. The collective commitment shown by all participants signifies promising progress toward attaining Universal Health Coverage for all.
