Healthcare workers in Cameroon’s conflict-afflicted regions have received encouragement to bolster their efforts in delivering Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) services to vulnerable populations, thanks to Global Health Systems Solutions (GHSS) and its partners. This call to action was issued during supportive supervisory meetings organized by GHSS, which took place from August 1 to 14, 2024 across various health districts in the regions concerned. Field staff were advised to communicate their challenges to the relevant authorities to effectively carry out their duties. Additionally, they were urged to focus on educating the population, especially young women, about family planning and the importance of taking care of their sexual reproductive health.
Global Health Systems Solutions is committed to implementing the ‘Subnational Support to Increase Family Planning and SRH Service Access in Conflict-Afflicted Regions of Cameroon.’ These supervisory meetings were held in the health districts of Bamenda 3, Buea, Santa, Dschang, Tiko, Bangem, Limbe, and Bonassama, and brought together officials from Cameroon’s Ministry of Public Health (MoH), Community Health Workers (CHWs), Field Health Assistants (FHAs), District Coordinators, advocates, and supervisors. This project phase, which began in December 2023, aims to achieve three main objectives: 1. Strengthening the enrollment of vulnerable groups into the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) scheme, 2. Providing a comprehensive SRH package for adolescents and young women at the community and facility level, and 3. Enhancing the monitoring and evaluation of SRH services in the community and Primary Health Care facilities.
