Several young Cameroonians who have benefited from training in detergent and cosmetics production organized by Global Health Systems Solutions (GHSS) have said they can now support themselves and their families. GHSS organized the training with funding from the MasterCard Foundation. The youths who were previously in need thanked GHSS for improving their lives through the initiative. One of the trainers, Mohmbashagle Ngangnchi Smella, shared that trainees could now produce at least 19 cosmetics, detergents, and other sanitary products. He mentioned that the trainees will select five (5) or six (6) of the products they prefer and capitalize on them. He commended the transformational program GHSS is bringing to Cameroonian youth. The young people, who were given theoretical and practical training, were also reminded to make judicious use of the funds they received from the initiative. One of the beneficiaries, Ewang Valentine, said the
GHSS training is a life-saving initiative. He expressed his excitement about the opportunity and mentioned that he would start his own detergent production business immediately following the training. He thanked the trainers, whom he described as welcoming experts. The trainers also advised the young people to make their products unique to avoid competition in the market. The young beneficiaries have mentors to guide them in their businesses, while GHSS will supervise the progress of their businesses from time to time.
The capacity-building workshop successfully achieved its objectives of imparting practical skills in detergent and personal care product manufacturing. The event not only equipped participants with technical knowledge but also provided them with essential business skills to navigate the commercial market.
Some of the products participants successfully produce include Liquid Soap, Powder Soap, Vaseline, Insecticides, Mentholatum, Vinegar, Bleach (Eau de Javel), Perfume (Alcohol Base), Perfume (Oil Base), Massage Oil, Shampoo, Body Milk and Lightening Body Milk.
