The finalization and validation of the 2026–2030 National Laboratory Strategic Plan took place from 4th to 7th February 2026 in Ebolowa, Cameroon. The Department of Pharmacy and Laboratory Medicine (DPML) of the Ministry of Health organized the event, with funding primarily from Global Health Systems Solutions (GHSS) through United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC) funds, and additional funding from STRIDES. It brought together participants from various ministries, laboratories, the MILITARY HEALTH RESEARCH CENTRE (CRESAR), and other US CDC implementing partners.
The primary objective of the workshop was to finalize and validate the National Laboratory Strategic Plan (NLSP) 2026–2030, a document developed over the past year. The plan was successfully completed and validated, marking a significant step toward strengthening and improving laboratory quality systems in Cameroon.
Next steps include translating the document, submitting it to the national health commission, integrating the operational plan, and distributing and implementing the NLSP. A task force will be established to monitor and ensure the effective implementation of the strategic plan.
