BLIS is an open source Laboratory Information System that provides a robust, customizable and easy-to-use system that tracks laboratory specimens, results, workflow, reports and consumables by using computer hardware and software. It addresses specific needs of the laboratory. GHSS IT Engineers install and maintain the BLIS software in Laboratories in Cameroon and the DRC. The software was introduced in 2012 with over 196 lab technicians, medical doctors, nurses etc. trained on it. It has been installed in over 14 labs in Cameroon. The software has been very instrumental in reducing patients' turnaround time, providing vital statistics and curbing different form of malpractices within laboratories in Cameroon.
