The Equipment Maintenance and Calibration (EMC) Unit of Global Health Systems Solutions (GHSS) is currently engaged in the calibration of ancillary equipment in selected viral load reference laboratories and Early Infant Diagnosis Point of Care (EID PoC) sites in the South West, West, North West and Centre regions of Cameroon.

This phase of the healthcare-associated infections control exercise runs from the 30th of August to the 29th of September 2022. Target sites are The Buea Regional Hospital Laboratory, Limbe Regional Hospital Laboratory, Le Laboratoire Dream de Dschang, Bamenda Regional Hospital Laboratory, Essos Central Hospital (CNPS), Research Center for Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases (CREMER), Centre for Research and Military Health (CAESAR), Yaounde Central Hospital, Dream Nkolondom and the Yaoundé Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital (HGOPY).

Ancillary equipment of interest at each of these sites includes pipettes, incubators, mixers, centrifuges, refrigerators, and water baths. GHSS’ EMC Coordinator, Martial Tsajeu, notes that the calibration of these pieces of equipment is part of the Organization’s effort to ensure accurate measurements that will enhance the quality of patient results from the laboratories for adequate care and treatment. This project is being carried out with The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) funds.
